Association of Lateralized Interictal Epileptiform Discharges with Postsurgical Seizure Outcomes in Patients with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex: A 10-Year Retrospective Study at a Single Center

Objective. Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a rare neurodevelopmental disorder often associated with intractable epilepsy, and surgical resection the effective therapeutic approach to alleviate seizures in TSC patients. Scalp electroencephalogram (EEG) noninvasive method used diagnose epilepsy; however, relationship between scalp video-EEG findings postsurgical seizure outcomes has not been fully evaluated Materials Methods. The clinical characteristics of patients 1-year, 5-year, 10-year follow-ups was retrospectively analyzed. We explored association interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) outcomes. Further, differences among four IED patterns (focal, lateralized, multifocal, generalized IEDs) were assessed. Results. A total 82 enrolled this study. There 1-year follow-up, 75 5-year 57 IEDs Patients focal, had freedom (SF) respectively. Intriguingly, lateralized long-term SF follow-ups. Conclusions. significant existed showed mild epileptic characteristics. According our study, may guide care for epilepsy.
